Monica Edlauer

Monica has been living, studying, working and raising her family in Boulder, CO since 1996. She graduated from Naropa University in 2000 with a BA in Early Childhood Education and Contemplative Psychology (Health/Healing specialty), along with a minor in Traditional Eastern Arts. Through Naropa, she developed a foundation in the Japanese healing art of Jin Shin along with Five-Element theory and Plant Spirit Medicine. After attaining certification as an advanced practitioner of Jin Shin Tara, Monica attended Southwest Acupuncture College, earning her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree in August 2007. This four-year program consisted of 3000 hours of education, including over 1000 hours of clinical practice.

Monica is certified as a Diplomate of Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). This includes certification in Clean Needle Technique and Injection Therapy. Monica’s training includes herbal medicine, moxabustion, electro stimulation, tui na, shiatsu, auriculotherapy, cupping, and injection therapy.

Raising three wonderful children has provided Monica with tremendous insight, expertise and a love for treating children from conception onward. It is no wonder Monica enjoys specializing in prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric acupuncture.

When treating children under 8, she uses a special technique called “Shonishin,” a gentle, painless form of acupuncture without needles. She also uses Chinese pediatric massage (called “tui na”), and herbal medicine with children and adults alike.

In addition to women’s and children’s health issues, Monica’s experience encompasses the treatment of many disorders commonly addressed with acupuncture, including musculoskeletal pain, addiction, respiratory and digestive disorders, neurological conditions, and psychological and emotional issues. Monica has had many years of special training in treating sports injuries and OBGyn concerns.
